How I Set Goals for Myself.

I’ve been winging it for as long as I can remember. But there’s always room for improvement. And ever since I’ve started adulting, I’ve realized that it is important, now more than ever, that I had certain goals set for myself, even if they aren’t long-term yet.

I can’t promise that all of these will possibly help you because no two people function the same way. What I can promise you, though, is that setting goals for yourself works. For real!

1. I journal just about anything and everything.
Not to brag, but I’ve got this thing for journals. Maybe it’s the whole artsy appeal of it all, but I’ve got separate journals for everything. There’s a poetry journal, a bullet journal, one for my blog, one for work, a travel journal and a diary. It might seem a little obsessive, but it has helped me keep a track of everything that I think is important. It’s a fun way to track all of your long-term and short-term goals.

2. Have a vision-board.
This is a lot like journaling, but it helps you visualize your goals a lot more than journaling does. Vision-boards are a constant reminder to keep pushing yourself forward because your life doesn’t look anything like what you’ve visualized yet. That being said, spending five minutes a day to visualize your goals helps, too.

3. Don’t overload.
I’m not the kind of person who likes to map out her entire year before I even know what the year might have in store for me. I find that very predictable and dull. I like to set goals for myself and deal with them as the situation demands. So I’ve never overloaded too many goals. But for those who like to map out their entire year, do it in fractions so that you don’t find yourself swamped.
