Yeet That Negativity Far Away!

In our lives, we are going to cross paths with so many people. Some leave you with lessons and a company that will last a lifetime. Others, not so much, but you still thank your stars for their existence. And then there are others you’ll wish you had never met. Not to be salty here, but the kind of negativity that the company of certain people in our lives brings is exhausting and it feels like a burden that we simply do not have to carry. It feels, if I am being honest, unnecessary.

But that is not the way we can function in this world. Sometimes, we have to pretend to get along with those who bring us endless mental exhaustion. And of course, at the end of the day, you wish you never had to get along. Unfortunately, sometimes, we got to do what we don’t feel like doing. Don’t ask me where all of this is coming from, because I don’t have the answer to it. All I know is that there are times when we simply have to power through, at the cost of mentally wearing ourselves out.

And that is exactly why we should be able to shut these people out, outside of whatever situation requires us to get along, because we owe that peace to ourselves. Prolonged association with negativity cannot be good for any of us. And yes, that includes toxic people who keep trying to find their way back into our lives by constantly hounding us on social media accounts. And get this, you do not owe anybody an explanation as to why you have chosen not to associate with them anymore.

mal and ben

Not that I don’t have any personal experience here, but I’ve also seen enough of my friends and family being dragged to Hell and back by people who have done nothing but stab them in their backs every time they looked the other way. Safe to say that I am sick of everyone who keeps telling me that I need to stop ‘holding on’ to grudges because it somehow is disrespectful to the bond we previously shared. Well, I think we all know that it is the highest disrespect to ourselves if we keep sticking to something that brings us nothing but misery.

too much

To everyone who thinks that cutting people off without an explanation is rude or unnecessary, just know that you’re going to realize someday that you don’t need people who don’t even show you basic courtesy. They don’t add any kind of value to your life except, maybe, for showing you that you deserve much better. You don’t have to put up with people who take a toll on your mental health. And definitely not outside of settings that require you to be civil. You owe that peace to yourselves.

I don’t usually write anything like this, you know, promoting breaking ties and stuff like that! It’s very off-brand for me to be even writing this article. Then again, some things just need to be said because a lot of us think we need to hold on to certain people simply because we are caught up in some kind of a situation with them.

Guess we’re not. So go ahead and yeet negativity out of your lives because you deserve to be happy. Trust me, you really do.

Cheerio! Xx
