Same Sky, Different Eyes.

Today’s sunset was spectacular. I am still breathless by the sight that was before me, earlier this evening. It was truly unlike anything that I had ever seen before. But what’s even more beautiful, as one of my closest friends pointed out, is that ‘Today’s sky is on everyone’s [Instagram] story right now, which means all of us were outside watching the sky, and that’s beautiful.’ And I have to agree. My social media newsfeeds are filled with pictures of today’s sunset from different perspectives and different places and it’s such a welcome sight.

It reminds me of a poem titled ‘The Same Sky‘ that I wrote a long time back. But this time, it’s from a totally different perspective. I’d like to think that everyone paused today, even if it was only for a few moments just so they could look at the magical sunset that was taking place in front of our eyes. It makes me think that even though we’re all so different, there are certain things that we all come together for. Such a curious thing it is to be human and to romanticize the little things in life. Maybe this is how we hold on to hope. Maybe this is how we hold on to the little, more important things in our lives.

When I think about what it would be like to have someone to watch the sky change colours and talk about everything under the sun with, I realize that I already have those people around me. It’s in these little moments that we realize that we probably already have what we’re yearning for. Maybe we just need to stop looking for it all over the place and look at what we already have. Don’t get me wrong, though; it never hurts to keep looking for it, either.

After all, we’re all under the very same sky. We just look at it differently, and that is what makes it even more beautiful.

Cheerio! Xx
