What Now?

Do you ever make decisions impulsively just because they seem like a good idea for a fraction of a second, and then the next minute, you’re left wondering what comes next? How are you going to deal with it? Where were you going with this? It’s almost as if anything that you were thinking about in that split-second has just dissipated into thin air, and you can’t even remember what made you make that decision in the first place. It doesn’t always mean you were distracted. Maybe it just seems like a bad idea after a little bit of after-thought.

let me think

I have never been the kind of person who makes a solid plan because I know that things can change within seconds and I’ll have to deal with it instantly. It might not work for everybody, though. Some people like plans, some like to face things head-on. I come under the second category. But sometimes, after taking that leap of faith, I end up second-guessing myself, mostly because I still want to be reasonable about the things I want for myself. It happens to all of us at one point or another, I’m sure, and I’m just here to tell you that it’s never too late to change your mind about things.

its not too late

There is absolutely no reason you should have to go through with something simply because you made a decision without fully thinking about it. It’s all good because we’re just humans. We don’t really know what’s going to happen next. And sometimes, we end up making mistakes along the way, which is fine as long as we try to learn from it for the better. Growth is such a funny thing, as I’ve learned over the years. The mind is a monkey and there’s no telling when it’s going to jump to a new decision. That’s just the way it is sometimes.

dont jump to conclusions

I hope you are patient enough with yourself when you feel like you no longer want something you seemed to want just a short while ago. It doesn’t mean that you’re going back on your word. Maybe it just means that you want to give it another thought. I wouldn’t know. I am going through the same struggles as most of you, and I just try to keep things honest here, because I never know who might end up finding this relatable. I keep saying ‘make wise choices’, but there is nothing wise about the choices we usually make. It’s almost always kind of a trial and error.

TL; DR: You are not the person you were 2 hours ago, sometimes, and that is completely okay. Question yourself. Ask yourself if this impulsively made decision is what you actually want. You don’t always need to have an answer to these things. If you have one, then great! If you don’t, that’s okay too. Let yourself grow.

‘Life’s a climb, but the view’s great,’ right?

Cheerio! Xx
