A Little Reminder.

You know, when I first started writing on this site, around 4 years ago, I didn’t realize that I could see the reach of my posts. I didn’t know that such a thing as site stats were available to me because it wouldn’t have made a difference to me either way. I would have continued to write, no matter how many people I was able to reach out to, with my words.

But, there’s this burden that comes with knowing that your site is doing well. You start putting a lot more on yourself and you start to set higher goals for yourself after you’ve seen a steady growth happening. So, when you watch the stats drop after growing steadily for a couple of months, you feel discouraged. You start wondering where you went wrong, even though you’ve been giving it your 100%, just the way you’ve always been, or arguably even more.

Here’s what I realized after days of beating myself up over the dip in stats: it’s not my fault. I have been writing every single day for a long time, now and the stats usually do dip from October to December for some reason. I have got nothing to do with it and neither do my posts. People still read, and I know they do because more and more people have started reaching out to me now. That is what matters, at the end of the day, isn’t it?

This is what you’re supposed to know, though: you can’t put bad days off. Bad days happen. Bad weeks happen. Sometimes it’s longer than that. You can’t back out of doing something you really love just because you haven’t been receiving the kind of reach that your work deserves. I really have no explanation for it. Sometimes, you do everything you can and put a lot of yourself into your work and it still doesn’t receive the kind of response you hope it will. And you know what? That’s alright. Because as long as you still want to keep doing what you love, no numbers can determine your worth.

Your work not bringing in the numbers does not mean that it isn’t good enough. As long as you continue to love doing what you do, you’re going to find your way up, I promise. The clouds cannot hide the brilliance of the sun; the rays will always peek through. So, don’t lose heart just because your work didn’t do all that well; it will get better.

Keep doing what you do best and you’ll make it happen for yourself. Just believe!

Cheerio! Xx

  2. This happens to all. But the satisfaction comes when you do what you love no matter what and you are right in saying numbers doesn’t determine the worth. You are great and your blogs too. Keep writing and keep inspiring! 🥰
