I just spent more than 5 hours working on a commission, and I am totally exhausted for the day, but I don’t feel tired, physically! It is extremely satisfying to watch your work slowly take the shape you intended for it. It’s pretty much one of the best feelings ever! And although I didn’t particularly feel like writing a poem, or a post, for that matter, I started writing a poem, but I felt way too distracted to actually finish writing it. This whole ‘focusing your energy on just one thing’ is very new to me because I like doing five things at once, and I have to say, I’m not hating it!
If you’re anything like me, you probably get intimidated by big projects that you say ‘yes’ to just because you know you can do it. But knowing that you can do something still doesn’t stop you from worrying that maybe you’re not good enough, or the fear of not making the deadlines. There’s always a little voice at the back of your head being mean to you. But you know what? You’ve got this. You know how they say that things always seem impossible unless you do them? That’s exactly what this is.
So, in case you feel a little out of it today, I am here to remind you’ve already got what it takes. You’ve got it in you. I know it can feel like too much, sometimes, but maybe try focusing on one thing at a time, even if you’re taking short breaks in between. Before you know it, you’re going to be done with a lot more work than you could have imagined yourself doing.
The world is already trying to give us more reasons to be gloomy, every single day. Let’s not make it worse by adding to them. You owe it to yourself to have some faith in your own abilities and treat yourself better. I hope you can find it, today.
