#NaPoWriMo Day 26: Lost To Time (Sonnet).

Today, napowrimo.net challenges us to write a poem with a Homeric simile. This is basically, an epic simile. I tried, but I settled for just a moderately sized simile instead. (jokes)

Anyway, since you’re here! Please also go check out my bestfriends’ pages, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They’re both wonderful writers and they have so many amazing poems on their pages.

Happy reading!

Things never last the way words do–
They stand tall,
In rocks carved long ago,
Mocking the short-livedness of it all;
Like the ocean when it lies stretched,
A new tale with every tide,
And endless more buried in its depths,
Some found, some left behind.

Yet we’ll find nothing of ours left,
No tales, no symbols carved,
Like all the light fading to nothing
When the sun does set–
So, where do we truly stand,
If we are, but, specks of nothing, lost to Time?
