Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt comes from @literarychills’s list of prompts for this season. The prompt was ‘a shower’, and I wrote a silly little poem for a change because I felt like it, today.
If you’re here, please also go read my bestfriends’ blogs, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They have some wonderful works on their pages, and you’ll love their takes on things.
Happy reading! Xx
I think of beautiful rhymes,
And long, winding epics,
And ballads to make you yearn
For a love
That eludes you still.
I think up hilarious ideas,
But never quite put them in words,
Because humour never came to me,
As easily as
All other outlandish ideas did.
I think of words
I’ve never read before,
And I wonder how many languages
There could exist
That I cannot yet speak.
I think of myself,
Living lives I’ve never lived,
In lifetimes I cannot know–
I allow myself to imagine,
I allow myself to dream.
I think of the new faces I’ll meet,
And the ones I’ve met before,
There have been too many
I’ve forgotten too soon–
I wonder if anyone remembers me.
I think of too much,
Too fast,
And all at once,
Until there are no thoughts
Left in me…
And then I turn the water spout,
Let the water drain,
And then,
I forget every thought
That’s ever entered my brain.
