This is probably the most selfish post I’m ever going to write.
I’m a typical internet junkie, and I’m obsessed with my phone. I’m pretty sure that I’m not the only person who is so attached to her phone, and frankly enough, I don’t see anything wrong with it! It’s literally the first thing I wake up to and the last thing I see before going to sleep.
So, you can imagine my shock when my phone just, well, died. I could’t find anything wrong with it. It just stopped responding! My, that was one heck of a tantrum I threw at home when it stopped working altogether! Quite honestly, I hadn’t expected my phone to just betray me like that! I did take good care of it. Okay, I was a little harsh, sometimes, but I loved my phone.
To be honest, my one week of social network hiatus was not all that bad. I actually stepped out of the house so that I could go on a photo-walk and casually hang out with my friends, instead of being cooped up inside my house like a Vampire hiding from the sun.
Now one might wonder what was so bad about this whole social network hiatus that I felt the need to eulogize the death of my phone.
People ship characters in movies, TV shows and books. My family ships me with my phone- that’s how attached I was. There was hardly a moment when I kept my phone aside. All my friends know that I’m the one they can text even in the middle of the night and expect a reply. Call me social network butterfly, if you will.
Like I said, my phone was pretty much my connection to the outside world. I’m not the kind of person who has a big group of friends living nearby. Most of them too live far away; the shortest drive being a good one or two hours, I really need a huge battle-plan, a PowerPoint presentation and a whiteboard scribbled with strategic diagrams if I ever plan to hang out with them. Which is why I prefer staying in and texting them instead of actually going out.
Also, when you’ve spent two whole years obsessing over something, naturally, you’re bound to feel bad when it’s time to part- and it applies to everything! People, devices, even blankets! I guess I didn’t think I would have to say goodbye to my phone so soon. It worked pretty well. I have no idea how it went wonky all of a sudden.
My attachment to my phone might seem too silly, and I agree- it does. *Sigh* It was fun while it lasted, but I guess it’s time to move on to a new phone. I can only hope to take better care of it now.
Hey guys! If you’re as obsessed with your phone as I am, spread the love. Leave comments below to let me know what you think. You can also contact me on my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram- links to which are given on my Homepage (scroll down, alternatively). I’ll look forward to hearing from all of you.
