#NaPoWriMo Day 15: Something So Mundane.

Today, I chose to take a prompt from my friend @literarychills‘s list. The prompt is ‘mundane’, and I chose to write about love that settles into the ordinary, everyday things. Love in domesticity is something that is the simplest, but the deepest kind of love, in my opinion, and I thought writing about it would be a good idea.

If you’re here, please also go check out my best friends’ pages, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They’re wonderful writers and you’ll find a lot of amazing poetry on their pages!

Happy reading! Xx

I ask not of you
To wait lifetimes for me,
I ask not for you
To live in agony,
I ask not of you
To battle demons for me–
All I ever want
Is the kind of love I read.

What words of mine
Could ever compare
To the stories of love,
Revered and great?
Mine shall neither have
Their depth
Nor their worship–
Though my love is just as deep.

Would my love mean any less
If I couldn’t put in words,
In mere synonyms and adjectives,
Just how much of it I harbour,
Just how much of it I crave,
And how much of it is yours,
To cherish, to keep,
To take.

Out of all the stories I’ve read,
And all the love yearned for,
The only one I’ve wanted
Is the kind that never wanes–
Love that will outshine
Every other star so bright,
Until it settles to neverending warmth,
To something so mundane.
