#NaPoWriMo Day 18: Sacred Places.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is to write a poem that holds five different answers to the same question, without specifying what the question actually is.

I loved writing this poem so much because it truly gave me a challenge to work with. I actually felt inspired enough to write a poem that I am proud of. I hope you’ll like reading it, too.

And if you’re here, please also go check out my best friends’ pages, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They’re absolutely wonderful writers and you’ll find a lot of wonderful works on their pages.

Happy reading! Xx

First,
On the shore of the sea,
Where the tides come crashing,
With the sand curling under my toes,
Where time moves faster,
Yet stands all still,
The sky stretched to eternity,
And the salt in the breeze blows.

Second,
Hidden away in the margins
Of an old but well-loved book,
In ink that has faded away,
In incoherent words,
And tangents they seemingly take,
In what hides between the lines,
And everything that goes unread.

Third,
In the liminal space
That exists ‘fore the break of dawn,
Before the silence melts
And melds with cacophony,
When the cold air settles
In diamond drops of morning dew–
Moments before the world wakes.

Fourth,
In words that often go unsaid,
In silence that lingers
Between hearts that beat as one,
With more to be said
But under the blanket of comfort
That only ever exists
In twin flames brighter than the sun.

Fifth,
In places that remain sacred
Despite sad histories,
Carved in stones that’ll stand Time,
And in pieces of truth lost,
Never to be found,
But most often of them all,
In stories we shall, tomorrow, write.
