Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is to write a poem that starts with a command. This was a fun and easy prompt, and I really loved writing today’s poem.
If you’re here, please also go check out my best friends’ pages, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They’re both wonderful writers, and have some amazing takes on life and everything else. You’re going to love reading what they have to say.
Happy reading! Xx
Listen,
If I had to be honest here,
I’d tell you right away,
I knew we were doomed,
From that very first day–
But don’t you think there’s allure
To the disasters we could court?
The kind that reel you in,
And leave you in the cold,
Wanting all but more.
Think about it,
Where’s the thrill of it all
In knowing what’s to come?
Isn’t it better to simply
Hold hands and run?
We could live beautiful lies,
And ride into the sunset,
Or go down without a fight–
We’re already damned,
So, what’s a little more?
