#NaPoWriMo Day 3: The Moon. The Ocean.

It is Day 3 of NaPoWriMo, and I am already feeling my poetry juices coming back to my brain. With my work, and my side-hustle, and the fact that I am travellig for a few days starting tomorrow, I am surprised I managed to get any writing done today at all. But I am super proud of myself for coming up with this.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is a surreal prose poem. I happen to love poetic prose. It is a form that comes pretty naturally to me. That combined with the subject I chose for today’s poem made it all the more easier for me to come up with it so fast. If you’re a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender like me, or if you’re even into a smidge of fantasy, or even a little bit of science, you’d know the story of the Moon and the Ocean spirits and how balance between them is necessary for the entire harmony of the world. I guess the poem just came to me naturally, and I might have embellished a little for effect, but again, it is one that I am personally really proud of.

Without further ado, here’s today’s poem!
Happy reading. Xx

Push and Pull,
Yin and Yang,
The Moon, The Ocean—
Tui and La.

Neither could exist without the other, forever trapped in a cosmic dance. One couldn’t exist without another, lest it invoked untold wrath. Risking all but a moment for just a glimpse at mere mortals who bend to wills and whims. How curious, how foolish, how absolutely absurd! For who could risk eternity for the mortal world?

Thus goes the story, hear ye, hear all! Tui and La did once appear, at the broken humans’ call. An oasis with sheer power no weak-hearted could weild; rumours would have it they were powers unheard. And as ambition would have it, like fires the word did spread; Tui and La would disappear into thin air. How impertinent, how audacious indeed! To even think one could trap a Spirit! What greed!

What would become of the skies and the sea, if the Ocean and the Moon were to be seized! Oh, the calamity! Oh, how cruel! Should the Moon ever fall, we’re worse than doomed, the Ocean shall avenge her. Should the Ocean go quiet, we must know, the Moon’s rage will last forever.

Neither could exist without the other, forever trapped in a cosmic dance. If one loses their beloved, they’re left with nothing but rage, felling kingdoms, realms, and lands.
