#NaPoWriMo Day 11: Fragments (Monostich).

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.nethttp://napowrimo.net is a very interesting form of poetry called the ‘monostich’, which is self-explanatory, but for those who didn’t quite get it, it’s a poem consisting of just a single line. While this should be the easiest of prompts, it is rather difficult because poetry is an outlet for emotions, and people often have way too many of them to contain them to just one line! Nevertheless, I knew exactly what I wanted to write for mine.

Here’s one for starters – I almost shed tears of relief.

I have quite a lot going on, so I was thrilled to find out that I was only writing a single line for NaPoWriMo today! But the real monostich is below, as usual.

I have always been in love with the idea of people who come into our lives, even if it is only for a short time, and leave pieces of them behind in certain mannerisms that we caught on to and never quite shook off, or certain words that we started using because we were in their company, or a certain way of cooking food just because someone told you it’s a great way to do so. I think that love in itself is something that stays with us forever, even if we can’t always tell. So, this monostich is about all the people who are no longer in our lives, but have still left us with parts of them that we didn’t even realize stayed with us.

Happy reading! Xx

FRAGMENTS.

You took fragments of me when you left and filled the void with pieces of you instead.
