An Endless Fall.

The fall was an endless one,
The ground nowhere in sight,
The clouds passed by in a blur,
But the wind never felt this right,
Moon in full glory
And a cherry blossom sky,
It was only but a dream
That we held onto tight.

And all we wanted was to fall
Endlessly without a care,
In the stories that we wrote
In all the words we never shared;
Now we’re in this endless fall,
Lungs all knocked out of air,
Now our eyes are wide awake,
The dream was never there.

Wrapped up in the clouds,
We tasted what dreams feel like,
All the sweet possibilities,
And all of the bitter lies,
Climbed up and still above,
We flew up so high,
The fall was inevitable,
And so was the high.

Maybe we’ll find our place
Up in the clouds this time,
Dreams are all we have left,
So we just close our eyes,
And we fall and we fall,
With no end in sight,
No words good enough,
Nothing after this would feel right.

And don’t we all just dream
Of falling down an endless sky?
So much there is to see,
And so far we have to fly.
Don’t we all just yearn
For all that is out of reach?
Bridges to heaven we build,
Only to fall from the greatest heights.

I began writing this last night, but what started out as a poem somehow ended up as an illustration (see below) and I am equally proud of both of them! This is one of the most common dreams that people have and I thought it would be a fun idea to explore through art. I’m happy with the idea I came up with. I hope you like reading it too!
Yours truly,

The Shubhster. Xx
