I guess we’re all having a really, really bad day, today. I don’t know what it is that you’ve been going through today, but I’m pretty sure everyone has had a terrible day and I honestly don’t have the right words to write. I don’t have anything inspirational to talk about today, despite having tons of content planned for the blog and I just feel like I am simply existing without a direction.
But you know what, we all have bad days that make us feel so, so small and helpless in the face of things that are so much bigger than us and on such days, it is okay to just exist and not worry about having a direction. Don’t make a habit out of it, but sometimes, we need to allow ourselves to just be because we are still trying to process things that take a huge toll on us. We all cope with those things in different ways, I suppose, but just know that you’re not useless or invalid for telling yourself that you need a break on especially bad days.
Stuff happens, you know? And one can’t always stand tall and strong in the face of a storm. At some point, we give in to the fatigue and just let ourselves be. I think it’s important to allow ourselves to do that when we really need it.
So, whatever you’re doing right now, I hope you allow yourselves to take a little break from things for a while because mental and emotional fatigue is very, very real and it can hit you at the oddest of times. Nobody is holding it against you if you choose to cope with this fatigue by turning off your devices and taking a really long nap, or going on a Netflix marathon and ending up watching the same old thing that you have watched several times before.
This is the side of self-care that not a lot of people will talk about because we’ve all internalized hustle culture to an extent where we are unable to tell ourselves that it is okay to do anything that is not productive. But that’s just going to take a toll on you in ways that will make it incredibly difficult for you to find a way out of, when you finally want to do so. Not all self-care is about soups, bath salts and chocolates.
It’s okay to have bad days. Take your time with this.
Cheerio! Xx
The Shubhster.
