Lately, I have been trying to get back to everything that makes me who I am. This includes writing and making art. And it has been a LOT to balance along with my work. But I am trying and achieving things in bits and pieces at a time, which isn’t too shabby, but it’s all the more reason for me to try to find a rhythm for myself in my life.
Day 22 brings a nonet, which is a poem with nine lines, where the first line starts with nine syllables and each subsequent line has one less syllable until the last line. I have been finding great joy and peace in writing smaller pieces of poetry than usual. If you’ve followed my work, you’d know that I like song-like poetry more. But this has been so peaceful to write, and that’s probably what I have discovered, during this season of NaPoWriMo.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s today’s nonet!
I wake up fearing today will change
And somehow vanish without trace
Your affection towards me,
But you remain the same
As you’ve always been,
Solid and true,
Unmoving,
Loving–
You.
