#NaPoWriMo Day 28: Eternity (Index Poem).

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net was so much fun to work with!

Basically, an index poem is exactly what it sounds like. You run through an index or glossary of a book and pick out whatever sounds like a poem to you with the page numbers. The book I chose was the first volume from ‘The Grandmaster Of Demonic Cultivation (Mo Dao Zu Shi)’ by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. I loved writing a poem out of something I have already read so many times before and coming up with something completely unique.

It was a great way to exercise my rusty poetry bones.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this poem as much as I loved writing it!

Evil fire is a cause of illness, 128
Peach blossoms symbolized love, 180
Defying the almighty, 193
Anyone within the array falls, 15
At level with the heart, 148
Which makes one a ‘true human’,
Safe from external harm, 302
A two-stringed fiddle
Played with a bow, 382
Away from the land of the living, 356
A tranquil place shrouded in mist, 119
Possessing ethereal, heavenly beauty, 258
The flower of the emperor, 389
Can heal someone wounded, 390
The body perishes,
But the spirit is eternal. 390

I know I have been super AWOL during this entire NaPoWriMo season. For what it’s worth, I have a good reason for it, and I am going to try my best to write as many poems to make up for it. But let’s see how it goes. I feel good about getting back to my writing roots.

Cheerio! Xx
