A new skein of yarn unravelled, a slip-knot, and several stitches in,
I feel the restlessness in me settling. Coming almost to a standstill;
And for a moment, it’s just me.
A five-millimeter hook in one hand, the unweaved tail of yarn in another– that’s when I feel the loudness come crashing down, until it sediments into a silence like no other.
One stitch after the next, yarn over, yarn under,
Pulled through all the loops,
Somewhere between counting the rows and stitches,
I lose my train of thought.
How glad I am, for the peace this brings me!
This moment right here, is momentary. It is short. It’s sweet. It’s the very nature of peace– like the calm before a storm, if it isn’t disturbed yet, it will soon be.
Until then, I shut the voices in my head out,
It’s just another train of thought, but I’m glad this moment is all I’ve got.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is to write about something that brings you relief or satisfaction. While it has been all forms of art, for me, for the longest time, I’ve also been running a small business of crochet art for the last two years, now. It has been growing at a steady pace and it’s something I love to do.
All I have to say, today, is that I appreciate how much attention we’re giving to art and music, this NaPoWriMo season. It’s beautiful to truly appreciate everything that makes life more colourful. If you’re anything like me, I know you probably love art in some form or another.
See you tomorrow with a brand new poem?
Yours truly,
The Shubhster.
If you like my poem, please do leave a comment or follow my blog! I write a lot of random but interesting stuff, and I try to keep it real. I’d love it if you went ahead and checked out more of my work, while you’re still here. If you think someone you know would appreciate the things I write, feel free to share my page with them! You can also reach out to me on my Twitter or Instagram handles. I always appreciate seeing new people come up to me and tell me they like what I write! It doesn’t happen as often as I would like for it to, but let’s change that, maybe?
This has been day 22 of 30!
See you tomorrow?
Cheerio! Xx
