My Forever: Poetry from Conversations.

One of my better poems, in my opinion, is the one that I wrote from the words in the conversations that my beloved and I have shared over the past 3 years. It’s an honest answer to a question that he asked me in one of our last conversations. Since this month happens to be the month that we’ll celebrate our 3rd anniversary of being together, I decided to put this very loving poem out here. It just seemed right. So, my love, whenever you get to read this, this one’s for you, from the very bottom of my heart:

You wrote me a letter long ago,
Signed it saying you hoped to be
My ‘Forever’, you said, ‘If you’ll have me,
I’ll always love you and never let go.’

How I wish I’d told you back then,
That you’d be my Forever ’til my last day.
The Fates are cruel that way,
To have kept us away
To this very day,
Counting moments ’til I can tell you again:

“All I had to tell you were two things,
You said to me, ‘Tell me three’—
After all this time,
You’ve never walked away from me,
After all, you told me we’re ‘meant to be’,
I’ll hold you to that promise, so here’s mine:

Forever is a long time, but so be it,
I chose you then, and I’ll choose you again,
For not a moment has gone by when
I don’t wish we weren’t apart,
My Forever you’ll be, forever my whole heart.”
