#NaPoWriMo Day 18: Where to Look.

The cold petrichor,
The smell of aging books,
The wind in my hair,
And a warm, cozy nook–
I don’t ask for much,
But in all my happiest times,
The littlest things are all it took.

Sand in between my toes,
The splashing of the waves,
Salt in the air,
And the sunset’s golden rays–
I don’t ask for much,
But in all my happiest times,
I often look back at those days.

Long, tight hugs from my bosom friend,
Forehead kisses from my mother,
Sweet little nothings from the love of my life,
And peals of laughter with my brother–
I don’t ask for much,
But in all my happiest days,
I have found my home in no other.

All the riches in the world could never compare
To the joy found in the finer things,
There’s beauty in the simplest,
And all I have to do is give in,
Let myself be consumed;
Now I think of what could have been
If only I had known sooner,
I’d have known where to look.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net was to describe the joy derived from the finer things in life. For a topic so simple, it sure is pretty challenging to properly put my emotions into words where the simpler things are concerned. Oh, well! I tried! Xx
