A Part, Apart.

All I wanted was a part of your world,
All fate ever did was push us apart—
A part and apart,
Such a fine line, isn’t it?
With a glaring difference, too!
All that we could have had,
And all that we couldn’t do.
Maybe things could have been different
I wished for it before
But I no longer do.

And yet, how can I deny
The part of me that cares,
The part of me I gave to you?
The cracks you left behind
When we fell apart,
They’re a part of me now,
Here to stay,
Never to mend;
You walked away,
Leaving me in the dark.

You were a part of my dreams,
Many, many moons ago,
But now we’ll walk our paths
Apart and alone.
Perhaps this is how it was meant to be,
Perhaps you were not the one for me.
So here it lies,
The part of me that loved you,
The one you left behind,
The one that fell apart—
And now that you’re gone,
Out of sight and out of mind,
Here’s where I’ll be,
Healing my heart.
