A vast ocean of ink
And endless time—
Oh, what a tragedy it is!
For I am out of metaphors,
Out of words,
Out of rhyme.
Words no longer escape me,
And those that do are muffled
Behind the walls I’ve built around,
So, here’s where I’ll be,
Thoughts entangled,
Searching for what can’t be found.
Days seem to go on forever,
The end nowhere in sight,
Round and round in circles we go,
Telling ourselves we’re in this together,
Perhaps we’re wrong, perhaps right,
I guess we’ll never know.
In the shadows, I hide,
Hoping for the clouds to pass,
Watching time crawl by,
Wishing I could drift with the tides,
Let go of whatever past;
To what beyond the horizon lies.
No thoughts in my head
No words to write,
Not a thing comes to mind,
Nothing to be said—
Just this search for light
That someday I shall find.
