The Doors to Our Dreams.

Oh, to see the world so differently!
Our eyes open doors unheard of, unseen.
And yet, we venture into each others’ dreams,
Wondering what goes on when we’re lost in reverie.
Oh, to share all the same dreams,
In and out, we want the same things,
But here we are, running the opposite way,
Thoughts wondering if this one could stay.
Fearing that we’d be so rudely shaken awake,
Eyelids so heavy, stubbornly held up,
Tracing words with an erratic heart-rate,
Half-wishing the night never came to a stop.
Like the dance of the sun and the moon,
One of us rises and the other falls asleep,
Walking in and out of those heavenly doors
Looking for a way into each others’ dreams.
Some we end up letting our hearts reveal,
Others we hide in the darkest depths,
All our lives, we spend looking
For keys as though to treasure chests.
And should we ever let it slip past
What lies the deepest in our hearts,
I hope we dare to dream ones that last,
Brave enough to walk to where the doors lead.
