My best friend recently suggested that we start watching a drama that had been adapted from an ongoing web-toon. It took me two days to read all the chapters that have been released so far, and I have to admit, I had almost forgotten what it feels like to read so much. I haven’t been able to read so much in a very long time and I am so glad that I did because I finally feel like getting back into the habit of reading more and more. It might do me a lot of good, too.
A lot of us have a couple of things that we were once immersed in, but for whatever reason, we had to keep that aside to make time for other things in life. It is, more or less, one of the toughest choices that we’ll have to make. But nobody said that you’re not allowed to get back to it. Sometimes, all we need is the proper motivation to get into something that once meant a lot to us. Sure, we might need to make time because our schedules are a lot different from what they once used to be.
I stopped buying new books for myself years ago because I simply couldn’t find time to read for fun like I once used to. I thought that would change after graduation because there would be more time to read books and there wouldn’t be the need to constantly analyze every single thing about the story or the character or the themes that were applied to the story. And, oh boy, was I seven kinds of wrong! I still do that every time I end up reading something new, but I’ve come to realize that it now gives me a much deeper understanding of the story.
I think it’s all about growing up and developing new perspectives about things or just upgrading your old ones. We were always taught to look at things as black and white, and that they couldn’t co-exist and that lasted a good while until we learned the existence of a certain grey, and that just happens to be the turning point for all of us. There’s no defining moment; it’s more of a culmination of things learned over a certain amount of time. We begin to understand that things might not exactly be the way we expected them, but that’s alright because there’s always something to learn there.
We might have drifted away from a lot of things, in the last few years. It’s different for everyone so I can’t exactly speak for everybody. But what I do know is that, regardless of how long it has been since you did something you love, it will always bring you the same kind of comfort that it once did, under the right circumstances. Let it happen naturally.
I know that I’m going to read a lot more now, for sure. I guess it’s high time I made a habit of it again.
I hope you’re all having a great day!
Cheerio! Xx
