Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is to write a poem that is deceptively simple. I wrote this one on the commute, and within just a few minutes, but I am especially proud of how well it turned out.
If you’re here, please also go check out my best friends’ pages, Kittu’s Modern Mixtape, and Amour Infini. They are amazing writers, and you’ll love their works.
Happy reading! Xx
This summer feels
Warmer than last,
More sweltering,
Suffocating–
I can’t breathe,
Please help me.
As I wait
For reprieve,
For rains to come,
I think of you,
And how you felt
Safe, like home,
Like the rains
That elude me–
Just like you,
You vanished too,
And someday,
So will this heat.
