It might be really hard to believe, but dreams do come true.
The cost? Dedication and perseverance. The reward? The immeasurable amount of joy and pride that it will bring. If you were looking for overnight success, perhaps, this isn’t the place to be looking for inspiration. I’ve never experienced it, so I probably would be of no help there. Besides, I’m a believer in making things happen for myself instead of relying on the universe to mysteriously work in my favour.
I’ve been told that the universe doesn’t work for me unless I work for what I want. But you know what? Fair enough.
But if you think that nothing good ever comes easy, I’m here to tell you that it does. The only difference is the situation and circumstance under which things come easily to certain people, whereas they don’t come so easily to you. It does not make you any less worthy of achieving your dreams, and it doesn’t mean that you won’t get there someday.
It’s probably just going to take a little longer than you expected. And I know you’re probably tired of hearing this, but please hang in there and don’t give up just yet.
You want to hear a secret? It’s true that when one door closes, another opens. But it is also true that when you crack the code to one door, several others open for you. Once you achieve even a sliver of your dreams, you’re going to want more. You’re going to derive joy and energy from working towards your goals. It might seem like a lot of work, but you’re genuinely going to pour out your heart and soul into making something happen. Because once you’ve tasted even the tiniest bit of your dreams, you’re never going to want to settle for anything else ever again.
Does it seem too dramatic or unrealistic? Good. It’s supposed to be.
I’ve learned, over the years, that nobody ever takes you seriously when you’re out and loud about what you want to achieve. It always seems impossible or like ‘too much of a stretch’. But it all works out in your favour when you finally achieve what you were talking about because it is solid proof that you weren’t just all talk.
Of course, that isn’t to say you need to prove yourself to anyone but you. Never let it stop you from chasing the goals you want, even they don’t really seem ‘attainable’ to anybody else. It doesn’t have to make sense to anybody else if that is what you truly want from life. After all, you’re going to be the one creating and living your life– not the people who told you to be practical.
I know that you might not see it from where you stand right now. It might be pretty hard to believe the words of a stranger typing away on some random blog on the internet. But give yourself a chance if you can. You’re going to be so glad that you took that leap of faith for yourself because it’s going to take you places, even if the journey isn’t a particularly easy one.
Go ahead and open that door you’re so afraid of opening. Xx
