“For the love of the almighty! PLEASE dial down the crazy!”
How many times have people asked you to do so? My advice? Don’t listen to them. Be crazy! Be an absolute goofball. Sing on the streets with your friends at the top of your voice (been there, done that!), prank your friends (don’t take it too far, though!), laugh, make silly faces and take mad photos. Don’t be worried about what people would say. That’s what they do. Don’t let them get to you. If they annoy you too much though, stick out your tongue and blow a raspberry at them! Do it. You are entitled to your share of craziness in life, and if people don’t understand that, they probably lead a dull life.
I used to lead a dull life until I met this crazy psychotic freak in my 9th grade. She turned my life around and I’m so thankful that she did (shoutout to you, bestie. I know you’re reading this.) I used to be the nerdy kid at school, awkward, constantly bullied and picked on because I had acne and all those problems a normal adolescent would have. My best friend taught me to embrace these changes and helped me grow out of the awkward shell. I’m not afraid to make a complete fool of myself anymore. In fact, I’ve learnt that it is better to let people think that you’re dumb and surprise them all of a sudden with what you can actually do.
You see, being crazy is not being careless. If you’re the kind of person who secretly wants to be a goofball, but silently broods in the corner- don’t worry. Everyone loves a person who can be their own crazy self in public. You know why more people should do this? Because it is liberating, in a fun way. Just imagine how much better the world would be if people stopped worrying about what others would think of them and started being themselves!
I asked my Mom what she thinks about being crazy. Apparently, she’s a firm believer in going bonkers. According to her, more people should stop being so uptight about everything and live a little, even if it means being childish. I completely agree with her. We all want to be successful adults and be serious about life, but at what cost? All that we get at the end of the day are stress, tiredness and very little time for the things that actually matter in life.
“They say that it’s a crazy world out there. I don’t mind contributing by a bit of madness myself.”
― Nadun Lokuliyanage
If you have ever been called “crazy” for your imagination and ideas, ignore that comment. People who can’t think like you will call you crazy. Don’t mind them; you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind. Don’t worry about how ‘goofy‘ you look, because beauty comes from within. What matters is that you’re confident of the amazing person that I’m sure you are. What you should do though, is that you need to be fearless about the madness that is inside of you.
People love the goofy characters. Don’t believe me? What about Phoebe Buffay, Luna Lovegood, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, Fred and George Weasley, The Mad-Hatter? Goofy, crazy, filled with madness and yet, they managed to win the hearts of millions of fans from across the world. Know their secret? They live their lives with an element of craziness in it. So don’t hide in a corner if you trip and fall on your butt, because please, even models tend to trip and fall due to their sky-high heels in front of the paparazzi, yet they manage to maintain their grace. Learn to laugh at yourself and let go. No one is even going to remember that you fell (except for your best friends, maybe. They can be wretched freaks sometimes, trust me).
“Sometimes you must do crazy things to discover the life beyond your life, to enter the unknown zone beyond your known zone!”
― Mehmet Murat Ildan
At any given moment, craziness is the best response to any situation in life. Life is too short to take it seriously. The crazy ones are the ones who get noticed easily and stand out. No one understands them, but they easily pave their way into everyone’s hearts. They are bold, they are not scared of being themselves and that is the secret to their happiness. Once you stop worrying about what others would think, you start living life on your own terms. You begin to wonder why you never tried being crazy before, because damn, this is better than trying to impress people and maintain a fake reputation!
Surround yourself with people who make you wonder which asylum they’re from because they are the best kind of people. They make you feel like one of them, they make you feel at home, yet they wouldn’t take away your own identity. Personally, I think all my best friends are goofballs. They make me laugh whenever I am low, and they make me look the least crazy (which is obvious, because they are crazier than I am. Sorry guys, but it’s true! I love you goofballs!).
“Crazy people are considered mad by the rest of the society only because their intelligence isn’t understood.”
― Zhou Weihui
So, for everyone who hasn’t given being crazy a go (and I definitely don’t mean getting drunk), go ahead and try it. It’s addictive. Being crazy is fun. It makes you do things that you wouldn’t have imagined yourself doing (in a good way, of course!) You start seeing things in a whole new light. Remember that no great mind existed without a touch of madness to it.
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
― Rob Siltanen
So if you think you can relate, and want more people to know about it, share and spread the love! Do tell me what you think, because I would love to hear from you guys!
