“Dear Diary, In a world filled with the most craziest things that are designed to get you stressed out about the things that aren’t in your control, I am so grateful to have a safe space with my friends and my parents, where I can simply just let it all out without the fear of being judged or having my problems disregarded. Of course, a lot of my problems look like mountains from afar but are simply just mole-hills that are bothersome. But it’s nice to always know that I’ll have a place with the people I love where I can let my guard down for a second.”
Sometimes in life, we need to know that there’s at least one safe space that we can count on, where we can be our most vulnerable self without the fear of judgement. To me, that’s either talking to my closest friends or just staying beside my Mom all day because she somehow always knows the right things to say. But it doesn’t always have to be like that. Everyone has a different space or thing that can put them at ease, like a comforter, a certain kind of music, or even a panic room— but it’s nothing to be laughed at.
The ‘zero, zero, zero, zero’ is a symbol for coming back to something constant and familiar in life (Hello, Sheldon Cooper!), and I would someday like to get that tattooed on my arm or something, but we’ll talk about that some other time. For now, I’m extremely glad to feel warm and protected, surrounded by the people I would trust my life with. I know that it isn’t something that everybody can say for themselves and I hope they find it very soon! It’s nothing short of a gift in life.
No matter what brings you comfort or a sense of safety, never let it go. Surround yourself and your safe space with the kind of positivity that you like. Make it a space where you can recharge and rejuvenate without anything hindering your me-time.
