“Dear Diary,
After 30 days of being thankful for anything and everything in my life, I have come to realize that 30 days can never do justice to the people and things I’m grateful for. Not even remotely. I’m sure I don’t even have to think too hard about why I’m grateful for all the people I choose to be around, or why I’m grateful for where I am in life and where I can see myself going. My only worry is that I will somehow fail to express how much all of this means to me, and I don’t want that. Then again, I guess that is how I know that I am not magic, I am just a human who tries to be thankful for everything, even if she doesn’t always say this out loud.”
They say ‘it takes a village’, that behind every successful person, there are a number of people simply rooting for them to win in whatever aspect of life. And it seems unfair of me to have thanked only a chosen few throughout the month. Because what about everybody else? Everybody who takes a few minutes out of their day to read what I have to say, everyone who writes to me saying how much my work has inspired or helped them? My success is as much theirs as it is mine.
So, here’s to anybody and everybody that has made any kind of impact on my life. Some of you were just lessons to be learnt, and some of you are now strangers I’ll never come across again. To the friendly faces I see when I go jogging every day, to the shy reader who is somewhere in another corner of the world reading this, to the person who always has nice things to say on my social media— all of you! I don’t think I’ll ever have enough words to thank.
They say ‘count your blessings’, but how am I supposed to do that when it’s literally one of the most infinite things in my life? I can only feel the gratitude in my heart because no words in any language can encompass this beautiful feeling.
So, if you’ve stuck with me so far, or have been secretly rooting for me, writing to me, encouraging me, or if you’ve ever crossed paths with me, I just want to let you all know that I see you. I am grateful for you and that you do matter.
