What gives the relationships in our lives the kind of depth that makes us go above and beyond when it comes to the people concerned?
Is it just another chemical reaction? Is it because our zodiac signs are compatible? Is it because we have been a part of each other’s lives for a considerable period of time? Or is it simply some kind of unsaid understanding that forms when you tell yourself that you’d do make sure that the person in your life never has to face a bad day all by themselves?
Personally, I’ve always given the relationships in my life utmost importance because I value how they can not only enrich our lives but also make this journey a tad easier and teach us plenty of lessons every single day that we spend working on them. In case you were wondering, I’m not just talking about romantic relationships here. I rarely ever am because they are only a tiny part of our existence. But family and friendships? That’s where the real stuff is.
But I realized that it all boiled down to something very, very simple. The value of the people in our lives is easily determined by the kind of time and effort we are willing to put into the equation. How far are you willing to go for the people in your lives? How much are you willing to be their rock when they’re going through a bad time? It’s not about how much time your willing to spare, but about how much time you’re willing to make for the people in your lives.
This isn’t some kind of awakening the I’m going through today. It just hit me that no matter what happens, I’ll always have the people in my life to rely on. And on the off-chance that I can’t, it still leaves me with lessons that are going to help me grow out of my comfort zone and into a better version of myself. We can try to isolate ourselves all we want, but in the end, the kind of people we are depends upon the kind of efforts we put into the relationships we most cherish.
So if you’re ever wondering whether you should cross oceans for somebody, I say you go ahead. Maybe they’re worth it, maybe they aren’t. There’s no way to tell for sure. But do it. Because no matter how much we try, there’s no pleasing everybody. So, hey, if you ever feel like you are the only one who’s invested in the equation, you’re always free to walk out. But don’t ever shy away from going the distance for the people in your lives because those who truly deserve it will do everything to earn their place there.
How far are you willing to go?
Cheerio! Xx
