Windows.

A couple of years ago, my best friend wrote me into a ‘bookish description’ that was somewhat true, even though she hadn’t ever met me in person before she wrote it. Of course, it was meant to be fictional but I was taken aback by how well she had written me into her piece. And for the first time, it truly hit me how differently people perceive others. There may be a hundred different versions of you in thousands of minds. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the piece my best friend wrote for me, or rather, based on her perception of me.

is that what my hair really looks like from the back

That being said, we cannot control what other people think of us. We can only try to be the best version of ourselves and do right by everything and everyone as much as we can, and not really let what everybody thinks about us get to us. But it’s really not that easy, is it? We are designed to be people-pleasers and we constantly walk around on eggshells trying to make sure that we don’t get into anybody’s bad books, but whether we like it or not, it’s bound to happen at some time because our own opinion about ourselves counts as well.

i hate myself

I’m going to keep this one short because as it turns out, I don’t feel like saying too much today. All I wanted to say is that we must live our lives for ourselves. People are always going to have their own versions of you in their heads, and there’s zilch you can do about that. If we keep letting stuff like that affect the way we go about our lives, it’s just going to mean that we aren’t being true to ourselves and what kind of life would that be?

Life goes on, people. You can draw the blinds and the curtains as much as you want, but you’ll only be keeping all of the light out. Ask yourself if that really is the kind of life you want to live.

Cheerio! Xx
