Non-existent ties,
The red string of fate,
Starry, late nights
Overlapping into days;
Hazel flecked with golden sparks
Brightening up these stormy greys.
The skies cleared up
A hydrangea blue,
Fading into pastel sunsets
Of bright pink and purple hues;
It’s a small, small world, after all,
I’ve been right here and so have you.
Perhaps I knew you in another life
But now you’re just a stranger to me;
I wonder if our paths ever crossed,
So many ‘ifs’, ‘buts’ and ‘maybes’—
The odds seem highly astronomical,
But hope is stubborn and so are we.
Years down the line we’ve walked
Found a way back to each other, too,
It’s a fate that binds us all,
In a world so, so small,
I’ve been right here all along,
And looks like you have, too.
So, if we were to cross paths again
Do you think we’d see the spark?
Amidst bright reds and glaring whites,
Would you walk the plank until it’s dark?
And when we’re beaten down by the rains,
Could we rekindle those flames again?
Life comes to a full circle,
But we’re back to where we never began.
Just one word and we’d risk it all
With the burning passion of youth,
It’s a small, small world, after all,
I’ve been right here and so have you.
Powerful, inspirational and beautifully written.
