For a Rainy Day.

I found something very random in my notebook today and I realized how important it is to remind yourself that you matter. I thought I should write about it here because it is something that goes very well with the stuff I write on my blog.

It was just a piece of paper on which I had written a little note to my future self. The note said:

“Dear future me,
Whenever you’re reading this, and it doesn’t matter if it’s fifty years from now, I hope you’re happy. I hope you’re doing well and I hope you’re walking the road you said you would walk, without any regrets. I hope you’re enjoying your life the way you said you would. And if you haven’t done all those things yet, I hope you get to do them soon. If you find happiness, hold on to it, and don’t look back. Keep going. I believe in you.”

I had the biggest smile on my face after reading this little note because I don’t even remember writing it. It’s just nice to know that I am still looking out for myself, even if I don’t fully realize it. I think that positive self-affirmations are so rare, but they can be so effective! You could be going through a long day, and suddenly, you have this little reminder telling you that things are somehow going to work in the end, and I think we all need to hear that every now and then.

I put the note back into my notebook to save it for a rainy day. I don’t know when it will find me again, but I hope it still makes me the way it did today. It’s nice to have a reminder from myself, sometimes, I guess.

Let yourselves know that you’re loved, today. Be kind to yourself, even more so on the bad days because that’s when you need it the most. You never know when you’ll need that little reminder.
