Faded Goodbyes.

One of the saddest things in the world is to see yourself fading away from the lives of those who matter the most to you. For whatever reason, sometimes we just cannot expect to be a part of people’s lives simply because they matter to us. It’s very tragic and bittersweet. In the end, it is always upto us whether we choose to walk away from them because we know we’re no longer a part of their lives, or to stay even if it hurts. I don’t know why I felt like writing about this today, so, I hope you like the poem. Xx

I save stories,
Keep them hid in a safe,
Every moment cherished,
Locked away,
I save stories
To read another day
Amidst moments of quiet,
Before I fade

Into the unknown,
Drowned sorrowful depths,
Hands I held once
Keep slipping away–

And it hurts
To be erased,
Insignificant, forgotten,
It hurts knowing
I wasn’t meant to stay;

And if I should go,
I shall leave today,
Fading in the distance,
Walking away.

There’s not much I could do, anyway.

I save stories,
Keep them hid in a chest,
Stories I’ll read
On a quiet day,
I save stories
I hide from myself–
Aching to be told
To turn around, stay.

But I leave
Out doors open wide,
No tears,
No goodbyes,

Stories written together
Now lie in the dust,
Pages scattered,
Pictures faded,
Ink dried–

And if I should go,
I shall leave today,
Fading in the distance,
Walking away.

There’s not much I could do, anyway.
