Some Kind Favour.

Phew, it has been a really long time since I have written one of my longer poems. This one, I began writing as something from the perspective of a person who regrets not having confessed their feelings about a person earlier on. But it turned to something more hopeful. The poem turned into something about being given second chances and taking them. This is just one of those things I’ve wanted to write about for a really long time and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

I hope you do, too. Happy reading! Xx

Once again,
I’ve been at a loss for words,
Tales of spun sugar
Melting on my tongue,
Once again,
I’ve lost my train of thoughts,
As I watched you catch
Golden rays of the sun,
Once again,
I’ve been lost in wonder
At the way you carry
The sun in your smile,
Once again,
I’ve failed to tell you
All that I’ve kept hidden
Underneath my lies.

And I watch you
Drifting further away,
I catch myself wishing
For a little more courage,
But would it ever be enough
When it comes to you?
I find myself wishing
I could cherish you,
But it’s far too little,
Far too late.

Once again,
I’m drowning in regret
Over all the words
That never came to me,
Once again,
I’ve wished in vain
To go back in time
And right the wrongs made,
Once again,
I’ve been led your way,
Some kind favour,
Some star-crossed fate,
Once again,
I have air to breathe,
Colours to see,
I have you come back to me.

And I watch you,
As though a distant dream,
I catch myself wishing
For a little more courage,
But would it ever be enough
When it comes to you?
You deserve so much more–
I’d lay the world at your feet
Only if you let me,
I’ve waited for you far too long.

Once again,
I’ve been led your way;
This time,
I intend to stay
Right by your side,
Where I’ve wanted to be,

Once again,
I’ve been given the chance
To right the wrongs made,
Some kind favour,
Some star-crossed fate,
Some miracle has brought you to me, again.
