Just a Reminder.

This weekend truly felt like one, because for once, I allowed myself to get some much-needed rest. I’ve been more exhausted than usual, lately, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing, but something good has come out of it, and it is that I am now a lot more careful about the way I treat myself.

It is very difficult to not push yourself to do better, what with every motivational post out there telling you to pick up the pace and put your back into whatever you’re doing so that you only get the best results out of your hard work. But I think that, somewhere along the way, we have learned to overlook the way our body craves some down-time after constantly pushing ourselves to the limit.

For once, allow yourselves to do absolutely nothing about the day. Allow yourselves to just exist and recover from the week you’ve had. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I hope you do pay more attention to your well-being than I have done in the recent past. I’ve learned, the hard way, that recovering from the exhaustion that your body goes through is a pretty difficult task. It takes a lot longer than we can imagine.

So, just allow yourselves to be, today. The world is still going to have its mountain of problems tomorrow, even if you don’t chip some away today.
