#NaPoWriMo Day 7: Wish You Were Here (A Postcard).

Today’s poem is an extremely personal one, and hence was also the easiest to write as soon as I saw the prompt and what it demanded. If you’ve been following my work for a while now, you’d also know that I’m a very ‘write-what-you-know’ sort of a person, who occasionally dabbles in fiction. So this is pretty much the kind of writing that comes naturally to me.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net is to write a postcard poem titled ‘Wish You Were Here’ (yep, they even gave us the title for the poem today!). It’s simple: pick a place, write a postcard to someone, and that’s pretty much it! This one memory from last February holds a very dear place in my heart, so it is naturally the one I picked to write about.

It’s a shorter poem than I am used to writing, but it really is one I wrote just for myself, rather than it being about something deeper and profound

Without further ado, here’s the poem for today!

Happy reading. Xx

February 11,

The Van Gogh Art Exhibit.

My dearest love, I hope you’re well.

Once again, I am here lost in memories of us, of hands held and loving firsts. I miss your company more than I can ever tell.

All the same, I hold them dear. I stroll down to this moment to cherish the pieces you left me to hold. And although there are far too many things I wish had been told, I dearly, achingly wish you were here.

All my love,

Someone who once was yours and will forever be.

Be back soon with another poem!

Cheerio! Xx
