You and I could have been together,
Blowing out the candles on your cake—
You’d think things have gotten better,
But your absence still remains hard to take.
I’d quietly whisper birthday wishes to you,
You’d tell me what you wished for in my ear,
We’d laugh between mouthfuls of cake too—
Did you really have to be so far away, my dear?
There’s neither candles nor any cake now,
There’s no point to them with you being gone,
All I wish is for you by my side somehow,
You’re on my mind, dusk through dawn.
Another birthday has now passed us by,
The Universe still keeps us far apart,
It’s times like these I wish I could fly
Closer to you, to give you my whole heart.
I lit a candle for you and I blew it out cold,
I wished there wasn’t any heartache for us,
‘Until we’re together again,’ to myself I told,
‘Every wish will be for you, my love.’
Sending you my love, I’m with you in spirit,
Far away though we maybe for now,
Our hearts have never been closer,
Twin flames burning bright and warm.
