#NaPoWriMo Day 26: A Letter to the Dreamer in Me.

Dear little me, remember to dream
Of the stars far, far away,
For out-of-reach though they might seem,
You’ll find yourself among them someday.

Dear little me, dream larger than life,
Dream of unicorns and towering castles
Where you’re the one wielding swords and knives,
Riding your stallion into fierce battles.

Dear little me, dream of love;
Not Prince Charmings and knights in armour,
But one where you put yourself above–
You’ll see that, to life, there’s far more.

Dear little me, dream in vibrant colours,
Prance around blossoming gardens,
Your smile brighter than all others–
Make the sun shine wherever you are.

Dear little me, dream in fairytales;
Magic is whatever you want it to be,
Think of happiness, think of better days,
Think of all that you’re yet to see.

Dear little me, dream without regrets,
For in dreams, you enter a world of your own,
Someplace the sun never sets,
Somewhere that is yours, and yours alone.

Dear little me, dream of better days,
When you wake up to the birds chirping around,
Listen to what they have to say,
Lose yourself slowly to the beautiful sound.

Dear little me, dream of blooming
Like the red roses and dahlias you love so–
Leave unforgettable traces behind
No matter where it is that you go.

Dear little me, forever dare to dream;
Speak your truth, turn wishes to reality.
Miles you’ll have to go, you’ll see,
There’s nothing you can’t do, nobody you can’t be–
You’re a dreamer, my dear little me,
To every door, you hold the key.
Tonight, when you slip into dreams silently,
Dear little me, promise me:
You’ll chase the stars, run wildly,
For only in dreams, dear me,
You’re truly fearless, truly ever free.

Today’s prompt via napowrimo.net was to answer a questionnaire and write a poem on the basis of our answers. I have to admit, the questions did inspire me to think about what it is that I would like to tell myself the most. I did get carried away with the poem, but this is one of my better works (if I have to say so myself). I hope you enjoyed it. Xx
