Midnight,
Moonlight,
Eyes flutter awake,
Eyes blurred,
Words slurred,
Deep breaths I take.
A piece of the Heavens
Falls from grace,
As shards of the Moon fall,
Down the sky at a slow pace.
Heartbeats loud,
I looked around,
And outside my window, you stood,
Drenched in silver rays,
As you looked my way,
Looking more ethereal than one ever could.
Of course, the Moon fell—
She fell in love with you;
So how can’t I, a mere mortal,
Not fall head over heels for you, too?
I’m not the Moon,
I don’t belong to the skies,
I’m no celestial being;
All I am is a frail human,
And all I have, all I can give
Is my endless love for you.
