Around 2 years ago, when my best friend wrote a bookish description of me, she ended the piece by saying, “Sometimes, the only reason for her to be somewhere different, is to see things from a different perspective.” It is one of the most beautiful things ever to be known for having a different perspective, and having your best friend write about it is pretty much one of the best feelings in the whole world. I think it’s how I’ve always been. I’ve always looked for more, because the way I see it, there are endless possibilities if you look closely.
Lately, this has also been reflecting in my artwork. A couple of days back, I shared an artwork where I doodled over the sky because looking for shapes in the clouds is one of my coping mechanisms. Today, I sketched over a shot of the evening sky that I took yesterday, and I turned it into something that is completely different. Maybe this is just me trying to find inspiration in the smallest of things around me because I have been very drained for the past couple of weeks. Or, maybe this is just me slowly getting back to myself.
I took a photo yesterday (the 3rd photo) and it made the perfect background for this sketch. I call this one ‘Flirting with Danger’. 💜✨ pic.twitter.com/KOgAId6NWa

This is what I love about the power of imagination. The more I allow myself to look past the ordinary, the more I’m able to do with my art because my art is how I express myself. It’s beautiful, the way our minds work. You never know when inspiration is going to strike; even when you’re going through the worst of creative blocks, an idea could hit you out of nowhere and you’ll find yourself back to doing whatever it is that you do best. All you have to do is keep a mind open enough and not give up.
It always feels like the end of the world when you hit a creative block because it suddenly feels like you have no control over what you do best anymore. But that is not the case. It’s probably just a signal from your brain, telling you to take a breather and try again sometime later. Or maybe, you just need to change the way you look at things because you never know when you’re going to find a whole new world of perspectives and possibilities that you probably never even knew existed.
Switch it up sometimes, maybe? Who knows what lies on the other side?
Cheerio! Xx
