Hey!
It’s Saturday again. Which means it’s time for me to post some more Sijo written here. I don’t know why nobody ever reads my Sijo, but that’s alright because this is something self-indulgent, more than anything. Sijo serves as a reminder to slow down and find the beauty in simplicity for me and I think it’s important for me to slow down in the weekends, especially when I’ve had a really good week. If you’re interested in reading more of my Sijo, you can find them right here.
Without further ado, here are today’s set of Sijo.
Happy reading! Xx
HOME
I long for the roads so far away,
dreaming of distant places,
Footsteps taking me
on a path lonely,
I still carry on—
Until I find myself
in a place I’ve known,
I walked the way home.
COMFORT
I write several words
never knowing
what they’d mean to me,
An odd comfort,
I suppose,
it’s the familiar warmth we seek,
In places we lose ourselves,
In places we find our dreams.
ESCAPE
Page after page,
we seek an escape,
somewhere far away,
Walking into the thickets,
losing our way,
but just barely,
Writing stories all along,
paving roads to our own escape.
THE THRILL
Fires we build,
we burn instead,
the thrill lies in the danger,
Embers we pick,
no pain too small,
nursing our burnt fingertips,
We seek out pain,
like the drug it is,
chasing it down our tear tracks.
CHASM
A future encased in light so bright,
I’d let it blind me to death,
Unfurls itself at my feet,
waiting for me to take a step,
It’s a chasm,
and I fall in deep,
not knowing to break surface.
