Fading away into darkness,
Hidden within plain sight,
Just a little out of reach,
Just a little worn out of shining bright;
As the moon prepares to slumber,
We spend the night awake,
Tossing and turning and thinking too much,
Looking for whatever little peace.
The sky outside an expanse of black,
Dotted by the occasional star,
Sleepless and restless, head full of thoughts,
Wondering if we’ll go back to ourselves,
But even the moon disappears in pieces
And comes back to us glowing and whole;
Perhaps such is life and we lose our minds
Only to come back with so much more.
Like the moon out there, you’re worn out too,
Perhaps it’s time to find your pace,
With every push and pull of the tides,
We grow in phases or we fall apart,
Then piece ourselves back together,
A little until we’re whole again,
It’s a circle we cannot ever escape,
It’s how we let go of all the pain.
A little with every passing day.

Tomorrow happens to be my birthday, and it is also a New Moon. I am big on believing that the moon gives me the energy I need on most days, and for the last few days, I have been in a very bad headspace. Here’s hoping that the New Moon and a new year for me brings around some kind of change that is needed. I hope you liked reading my little poem! Thank you.
