Ah, I missed doing these Q/A’s!
I had been pretty busy for the last couple of weekends and I could neither go live, nor do a Q/A sticker on my Instagram, so I had missed out on a couple of weeks of these Q/A posts. If you haven’t checked out these posts already, you can do so right here! And if you want to ask me such questions, reach out to me on my social media platforms; I will include your questions in next week’s post!
I got some really interesting questions this week that I had a lot of fun answering. Here they are:
1. What are you the most grateful for as you start a new year now?
I am very grateful for my friends who have stuck by my side through thick and thin. They make it a point to remind me that I am good enough on days when I feel like I am not. I have a pretty small circle, honestly, and I am very glad that I have these people in my life. They have no reason to be here, no reason to stand by my side all the time or shower me with love, but here they are, and I love them with all my heart and soul.
2. What’s one book you would recommend to a person who doesn’t read much?
I would recommend ‘The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic’ by Sophie Kinsella to them because it’s a hilarious and very relatable book written in a pretty simple language. I think it would be very hard to put down once you’ve started reading it (who knows? You might even end up reading the entire series once you start!).
3. Could you recommend a fun, feel-good series to watch?
I would go for The Good Place or The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt if I wanted to watch something light and fun. I heard from a few friends that Schitt’s Creek is a very nice series to watch, as well (I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, but I will, very soon!).
4. How do you manage to write everyday?
Here’s the thing, right? I have no idea how I do this. It initially was just a challenge to myself to see how many days I could go on writing on a daily basis, but now it has become a part of my daily routine. It keeps me sane. It’s one of those things that I now feel very empty without. On days when I write my posts a day early and schedule them for the next, I feel very useless and empty. I simply have to write everyday to keep myself going. I have written a post about my writing process here, so go check it out if you want to know more.
5. What inspires your art?
Honestly? Just about anything and everything. I derive most of my art from life and from whatever I have on my mind. Sometimes, I am talking to my friends and something just clicks, and I end up writing about that. Sometimes, I try to pour my feeling out through a poem or through a journal entry. Most of my digital paintings follow surrealism because it fascinates me. Inspiration is everywhere if you look for it.
6. What is your opinion on being told that you’re ‘too old to read YA books’? I just don’t find normal ‘grown-up’ books interesting.
I think that this is a load of BS. You should go ahead and read whatever makes you happy. I hate the kind of elitism that exists in art; people will be downright rude and try to invalidate your love for that certain kind of art if your preferences aren’t pretentious or stimulating enough. The reason art exists is because it caters to everybody and every single person has different interests. Just ignore those snobs. Reading is reading, even if what you’re reading is a fan-fic on Ao3 or a Wattpad fic (those take a lot of time and effort to write, too!).
7. Are you working on your next artwork?
I am not. I am currently working on a very important commission and I don’t want any distractions while I work on it. So I have put my other projects on hold because I really cannot afford to mess up with this one. I do, however, have a lot of things planned for my art page.
8. I love your art! Are you planning to sell them?
Thank you so much! I haven’t planned on selling my work yet, but I will be selling prints very soon, so look forward to that. You can check out my work on my art page.
9. What is your comfort song?
My current favourite is ‘the lakes‘ by Taylor Swift. The song feels like a hug when I am feeling too low. The whole album ‘folklore‘ is full of such songs. I genuinely love her music and song-writing. I have included a link here in case you want to check it out.
