I had been feeling a little blocked, creatively, as one does when they’ve been working in the creative field for as long as I have. I tried to bring my ideas to life and I kept trying so hard but nothing seemed to work. At least, until last night. I just said, ‘Screw it!’ and started working on a sketch that I had no plans for; it was meant to be something self-indulgent and nothing actually creative. But something happened, somewhere along the way and I now have big plans for this sketch.
Sometimes, you just have to jump right in, whether you have a plan or not and you can watch your ideas come to life somewhere along the way. It isn’t something that hasn’t been done before, so you don’t really have to worry about falling on your face. You are given no promises that things are going to be alright, but something about the free-fall suddenly has you searching for ways to make things a lot better than you had planned for them to be. You’re going to be alright. Call it self-preservation or whatever. You just have to trust yourself that you’re more capable than what that mean voice in your head tells you.
I’m leaving you with this short post today, because I have a flight to catch and not enough time in my hands at the moment. But think about it a little bit, maybe? And just start working on whatever you’re scared to begin, right now. You’ll only end up talking yourself out of it if you dally any longer.
Cheerio! Xx
