Trust the Process or Nah?

You know how everybody says that we need to ‘trust the process and let things happen as they go because there’s probably a much bigger picture that we are yet to see?

Yeah, well, sometimes you’re allowed to let go and not go through with the whole process if it’s taking too much of you. Sometimes, there is no bigger picture and we just need to accept the fact that maybe we just need more practice before we give it a shot once more. It’s not exactly quitting, which you are also allowed to do, by the way, but it’s a good reminder that things can really be too much for us to handle and that it’s okay to let go of it for a while.

I was working on a sketch that I had such big plans for, because the colour palette was so beautiful and I was inspired to turn it into something that would have possibly been my best work yet, but I guess the world simply isn’t ready for that right now because the more I look at it, the more I realize that maybe I have bitten a lot more than I could chew. I’m not necessarily going to quit, but I’m taking a little break from it for a moment because there’s just way too much that I have to do.

The best ideas always seem to come to me when I am not putting any effort whatsoever into thinking. I’m not saying it works for everybody, but it seems to work for me. I might just let myself be and do my own thing until I find the inspiration to work on everything that’s left pending. I know that a lot of people don’t get that luxury because there are always deadlines to be mindful of, but because I don’t have to answer to anyone and I don’t have any deadlines to focus on, I’m just going to take it easy.

So, whatever the process may be, I think that it’s healthy to step away from it for a little while because thinking about it too much and immersing yourself in it isn’t exactly the best thing you can do for yourself. People take breaks from social media. Artists go on creative hiatus sometimes. Because that’s a healthy thing to do. I wish more people understood that instead of making it seem like they quit.

You’re allowed a break.

Cheerio! Xx
