Curiouser and Curiouser.

Life is so full of unexpected twists and turns. Honestly, I don’t even think we can keep a count of how many times we have ended up surprising ourselves by doing things that we never would have imagined doing, and yet, here we are, walking new roads every single day, whether we know it or not.

I don’t think anybody knows that I used to be into song-writing, back when I was around 12 or 13. That eventually opened the gates for poetry, for me, and I started writing more often. I often sing the lines to my poems because it helps me figure out what the next line should be, or what turn I want the poem to take. I don’t think that the 12 year-old me would have ever imagined that I would grow up wanting to be a writer. But here I am. Writing.

time is flying

Sometimes, curiosity can be a beautiful thing. It’s a gift that keeps giving. You open one door and suddenly, you’re walking down an endless hallway filled with more doors and you want to explore every single one of them because you want to know what waits for you on the other side. I think that it’s very important to not lose that particular part of yourself along the way. Never let the curiosity die, and never ridicule others for being curious, because it’s a wonderful thing to have.

If it wasn’t for my curious nature, I wouldn’t have been writing here, or anywhere at all. I wouldn’t be trying to explore new forms of art, or learning new languages. That’s just how it is. Curiosity helps you grow in so many ways and it takes you places that you’d never have imagined.

They keep saying that ‘curiosity killed the cat’, but I find the phrase very restrictive because it only holds you back from actually exploring the roads that you want to walk. People like their bubbles, and stepping out of those little bubbles is pretty much one of the most uncomfortable ideas to plant in their heads. In such a world, curious people are called oddballs and rebels and ‘screwed in the head’ for wanting something that needs to be dug out of the deep.

Allow yourself and everyone around you to be curious about things. Ask questions that you need the answers to. Keep learning new things and exploring new roads. You don’t know where you’re going to be tomorrow, and you don’t know how much your curiosity is going to bring you; that’s the whole beauty of it.

Let yourself open new doors.
Cheerio! Xx
