Such a simple word, isn’t it?
What was it that Cinderella said?
“A dream is a wish your heart makes,”
Why, then, does the world call it foolish?
Because they’re only granted in fairytales?
Maybe it’s why they’re all secrets.
Oh, what’s a wish, you ask?
When you see a shooting star,
Blow out those birthday candles,
Eyelashes and dandelion fluffs,
See the clock strike 11:11,
Snap those wishbones,
Throw pennies in a well–
The first thought you have,
The deepest of desires
That belong to no one but you,
That you so badly want to be true,
It’s what we call ‘a wish’.
Wish for the world,
The moon, the stars, the whole universe.
Wish for the most ridiculous thing ever,
Those with no imagination
Can all be cynics if that’s what they choose.
But you with an ocean for a mind
Don’t you ever stop.
