“Dear Diary,
I’ve been doing some thinking and I realized how lucky I am to be able to take a break from everything whenever I want to. I guess part of the credit goes to my incredibly flexible work schedule. A lot of people don’t have that option. I’m just glad that in this fast-paced world that grows with every passing day, I can stand still for a minute to recentre myself and work at my own pace because the only competition I have is with myself.”
Lately, I have realized that it’s the simplest things in life that make us truly happy, no matter how small they are. I think that happiness truly begins when we’re able to appreciate the smaller things that we can still enjoy. It’s one of the many no-so-secretive things I’ve come to realize over time.
Oh, my God! Am I finally evolving into a grown-up? The horror!
Anyway, as I was saying, I think it’s about time that we learnt how to pause for a second just so we can appreciate everything around us. How long has it been since you truly enjoyed a sunset or a cool drink on a hot summer evening? Have we started giving too much time to things, or people, that won’t even matter in a few years, over things that do matter?
So why don’t we all just sit down quietly for a few minutes to be grateful for the smaller, more important things around us?
I’m truly grateful that I can still appreciate the simple pleasures in life. And if you take a minute out of your busy lives to say ‘thank you’ for everything you have or how far you’ve made it, I’m sure you do, too!
